Swiss tournaments are on Lichess

@dida64 #478

Since recently you have to click on the header "Tournaments" resp. "Turniere" to see past tournaments.
Hi,
I think if the players miss the round it should gain 0 points, not 1/2.
Yesterday I played a Tournament and I had 3!! consecutive byes. The system should recognize who already had 1 bye.
@Josepin a 7 round swiss with only 8 players playing all rounds would seriosly test the skills of any pairer.
@josepin
Only 8 participants played all 7 rounds, this may be the source of the problem. It should not happen if the number of rounds is substantially higher than the number of finishers. EDIT: You are the quicker poster ;) @CrowChess
@CrowChess, @KnightSearch, yes that was probably the source of the problem. Some players left the tournament before the new round and I was again and again the last qualified. But the system should know that other players didn't have any bye and not always me, right? Always when I play official Swiss tournaments (not online), there are not more than 1 bye per Player.

Think this has been fixed now. From github.com/ornicar/lila/issues/6669

If someone still see it happening, they should report it
Just a quick question. I once read that in the Swiss system you should always set an odd number of rounds as tournament director. It should be better. But I don't know why and where I have read it anymore. Who knows about it?
@odoaker2015

I never have played in a Swiss tournament with even number of rounds. At our club we always play tournaments of 5, 7, 9 or 11 rounds, never 6, 8 or 10.

I don't know the reason for this rule, but it may have to do with the colour allocation. An odd number of rounds leads to imbalances of colours which can be distributed fairly among players. An even number of rounds would mean that all players must have equal numbers of white and black games which may be hard to achieve, if not impossible. Imbalances may occur, and then some players may get a difference of two between black and white.
