g4?! in the Closed Sicilian

Well, the short answer is do not put your knight on f6 :p G4 that early makes absolutely no sense for white especially when black is not committed his knight to f6. My all-time favourite game, which is Shirov-Polgar from 1994 illustrates that point greatly.

The game is from an open sicilian, but as I said before, don't move your knight to f6, play a scheveningen structure and oyu'll be golden.
In sicilian , Early g4 can be met by ...d5 or ...b5 .

I hope you Understand " Early " means Unprepared g4 that means Moving forward on the flank before controlling the ...d5 or ...b5 advance.

In general , Any Early Flank Advance can be met by Central Counterplay or Opposite Wing Counterplay .

There are even cases where you can counter on the same Flank that Opponent is Moving Forward Early. :)
White's playing somewhat prematurely on the Kingside, so it makes sense to aim for counterplay in the centre; 3...e6 4 Bg2 Nge7 followed by 5...d5 looks at very least equal for Black.
