Reasses Your Chess Vol 4

Just recieved it in the mail today and didn't realize how much material is in it. Over 600 pages and looking forward to reading it. Anyone else read this book and have any feedback good or bad? I am stoked and looking forward to reading it.
Mate, while I haven't read the 4th ed I do own the old third edition (and his endgame course) This sounds much longer at 600 pages than the old.
I'd be interested in your thoughts on the book once you start getting stuck in.
Good luck!
Np bud. I will layout a detailed analyses of the book once I have read a lot of it. How did you like the endgame book? I have seen greaat reviews on it.
The endgame course is brilliant for teaching someone what they need to know for their level, working up from 1000 (I think?!) to 2400. It finishes with sections on five classic endgame players (rubinstien, capablanca, Lasker, any slob and Bobby from memory) to motivate self study and enjoy the art (think a mini learn from the legends). Most of it may be set at level too low for your rating, but worthwhile to borrow from a friend to make sure there are no holes in your knowledge. If you'd lived in New Zealand I would have lent you mine🙂
Lol, my phone autocorrected Smyslov to any slob.
Whoops!
As for chess books by Silman, I've read Reassess Your Chess 3rd edition, 4th edition, Amateur's Mind, half of the Complete Endgame Course, and now working through the Winning Chess series.

Reassess 4th edition took about a year to get through. Silman's teaching style can be very pedantic. Analyzing variations within variations within variations can be confusing and frustrating for the average student.

But as was mentioned, if you wade through hundreds of pages to find a single piece of information that corrects one of your misconceptions or flaws in thinking, it can be worth it.

Greg Shahade's chess videos seemed to be a much more enjoyable and instructive way of learning.
Thanks for the feedback guys! Yes its gonna take me awhile to read this book with all the content thats in it.
I can upload my pgn of RYC vol 4 if you guys want. I only got to page like 100-200. Or the first 118 diagrams.

I lost motivation; will continue later on in life perhaps (hopefully not).
Ok so i am about roughly 100 pages through this huge book. I must say i do not think i will ever have to buy another chess book again. This book covers so much material in all aspects of the game its makes one wonder how long it took for him to write this book. I highly reccomend this book to anyone wanting to advance their knowledge especially in the middlegame. I will definitly be re reading this book several times over in order to absorb as much as possible. The only other book i will ever buy is the one he has on endgames. With that being said I have about 20 chess books i purchased over the years, but i might as well trash them because this vol 4 has covered everything and more of what those other books had to offer. The only exception is if you were to buy a book for a certain opening that only focuses on that particular opening. I have read many many chess books and this is by far the best one i have ever read and like i said I am not even halfway through. I give this book a 10 out of 10!
